Movies Give the Wrong Message
Hollywood, in its quest for happy endings, constantly feeds people the
absolute wrong messages with their movies. I’ve touched in this briefly
in earlier blogs, but let me reinforce that with a few facts that
directly contradict most movies:
- People do not fall in love
with other people whom they hate at first sight. They just wind up
hating them even more.
- Mean guys, jerks, and
criminals do not become nice, upstanding citizens because of a
woman’s love. They instead drag the woman down with them.
- Criminals are scum, the
lowest form of life on earth and are not charming, fun and exciting
dates that should be idolized. They take things they didn’t earn.
- Children never, ever are able
to get their parents matched up.
- Dangerous men do not make
good husbands. I can just hear Mrs. Indiana Jones now, “running off
to find the Holy Grail was fine when you were young, but when are
you going to stop fooling around with those old pots and start
helping me with the kids?”
- Nice guys are not always
boring and dating one is not “settling.”
- Being kidnapped by terrorists
does not change your feelings about a man, even if he does rescue
you by flying a Harrier jet up the terrorists’ ass.
- Men are not jerks because
they haven’t found the right woman. They’re jerks because they’re
jerks.
